Lessing's
Lessing’s is a
family owned and
operated business
that was founded by
Maxwell Lessing in
1890. The Oakdale
company provides a
variety of dining
and catering
services at its 18
Long Island
properties.
Kevin Lessing is
director of client
relations and is
responsible for
sales and marketing
within the entire
Lessing’s network.
Prior to this
position, he was
general manager at
two of Lessing’s
fine dining
establishments, the
Riverview Restaurant
in Oakdale and the
Maine Maid Inn in
Jericho.
Peter Lessing, CEC,
is the company’s
culinary director
and oversees all the
areas of foodservice
for Lessing’s
restaurants/catering
facilities. He is
responsible for menu
development,
training and
staffing for each
facility.
Peter participates
in culinary events
throughout the area
and writes a monthly
culinary column for
Great South Bay
magazine. A
certified executive
chef through the
American Culinary
Federation, Peter
was named to “Who’s
Who/American Chefs”
in 2004 and 2005. He

Off in 2005 and the
2006 Chef
Professionalism
Award from the
American Culinary
Federation, Long
Island.
The latest trend for
corporate catering
is the action
stations, Peter
noted. “We have
chefs prepare the
food fresh right in
front of the
customer,” he said.
Lessing’s has
operated more than
30 different
stations for its
corporate clients
ranging from a
Tuscan pasta station
for dinner to a
fresh fried doughnut
station for
breakfast, Peter
said.
Above all, today’s
clients are looking
for experienced
caterers with a
successful track
record that they can
trust to run their
event flawlessly and
make them look good
in front of their
clients, bosses and
all attendees at the
event, Kevin noted.
“At Lessing’s, our
experience and 115
year heritage in the
catering industry is
one of the most
important things we
bring to the table
and creates an
instant trust with
our clients who know
they can count on us
to execute a great
event,’ he said.
Established in 1890,
